Monastrell (aka Mourvedre in France, and Mataro in Australia) is the principal varietal of Jumilla (hoo-mee-ah). This thick-skinned heavy duty grape has been growing, uninterrupted, in south-east Spain since the 15th century. Thriving on Phylloxera-repellent sandy soil, Jumilla is home to some of the oldest vines in Europe. Ego Bodegas is a super modern winery in Jumilla with 60 acres of French and Spanish grapes. Goru is made with Monastrell picked from Certified organic vineyards with vines averaging 25 years of age. The fruit is carefully sorted and vinified at their facility where the finished wine is matured in barrels for two months. Learn More
