    $175.99

    Size 750ML

Pulido Walker Cabernet Sauvignon "Melanson Vineyard" Napa Valley 2012 Sold out all over, we loved it and we bought a few extra for our clients 2012 Pulido-Walker Cabernet Sauvignon Melanson Vineyard Even more compelling is the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Melanson Vineyard, which comes from high on Pritchard Hill at a 1,400 foot elevation. A killer Cabernet, it reveals copious aromas of blueberry liqueur, graphite, blackberry, licorice, incense and forest floor. Full-bodied, long, rich and even more complex and deeper than the Panek Vineyard cuvee, it should drink well for at least two decades. This is a very impressive start-up. Thomas Brown is the consulting winemaker for these two impressive Cabernet Sauvignon debut releases. MELANSON VINEYARD Between boulders clinging stubbornly to the steep slopes of Pritchard Hill, the Melanson Vineyard sits east of Oakville among some of the most highly regarded and closely held vineyard properties in the Napa Valley. Vines grow at elevations from 1,100 to 1,380 ft. above sea level, in fractured serpentine and clay soils laden with igneous and seabed rock. Melanson’s southwestern exposure is a distinct advantage, especially at elevations that translate to later bud break and harvest. Solar radiation is magnified at this altitude, while variations between high and low temperatures are moderated. The result is mountain fruit with thicker skins and higher tannins. The ink-black, super-concentrated berries are powerfully expressive of the site, with pronounced granite minerality. The higher tannins give the wine more structure with less weight on the palate and excellent aging potential. Vineyard Facts Appellation: St. Helena, Napa Valley Site: 10.5 acres on Pritchard Hill, adjacent to Colgin Estate Elevation: 1,100–1,380 ft. Soil Composition: Fractured serpentine and clay with igneous and seabed rock Planted: 1999 Varietal: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Clones: 7 and 337 Learn More
  3. Achaval Ferrer Finca Mirador 2011

    Achaval Ferrer Finca Mirador 2011

    $179.94

    Size 750ML

A superb display of tasty new oak, lilac, spice, and black cherry, Finca Mirador has personality and structure. Critical Acclaim WS96 Wine Spectator - "This pure, racy red exhibits a dark side, with layers of spice, graphite and maduro tobacco to the crushed raspberry, blackberry and concentrated cassis fruit. Needs time in the cellar. Best from 2015 through 2022." RP95 The Wine Advocate - "The vines in Finca Mirador were planted half in 1928 and half in 1942, the latter pruned double-Guyot. The 2010 Finca Mirador is from the Medrano sub-region, originating from heavier, clayey soils and aged in new French barrels for 16 months. The nose is more expressive than the Finca Bella Vista with cassis and blueberry aromas imbued with a sorbet like freshness and vivacity. After 20 minutes, there is an estuarine, oyster shell scent emerging. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins and a surprising sense of reserve and sophistication that could probably show Bordeaux a few lessons in restraint! It draws you in to its complexity and its precise, delineated finish of black currant pastille, sea salt and crushed stone that lingers long in the mouth. This is an outstanding Argentinean Malbec. Drink 2016-2035." Learn More

Dominique Demarville, Veuve Clicquot’s chef de cave was in London this week to launch La Grande Dame 2006 vintage Champagne, named for the Widow Clicquot, the titan(e)of 19th Century Champagne. Demarville introduced the 2006 Champagne as the first in a vertical of four mature vintages of La Grande Dame blanc back to 1976 – then the rosé in a quartet culminating in the 1989. All the vintages shared a common thread of similar potential alcohol / acidity to show how the 2006 might develop over two or three decades. Learn More

    2011 Dominus Napa Valley

    $184.00

    Size 750ML

94 points Antonio Galloni Savory herbs, menthol, smoke and licorice are some of the aromas that open up in the glass in the 2011 Dominus. This is a relatively immediate, expressive Dominus with plenty of near-term appeal. The style is open and succulent for the year, with lovely balance and poise. Crushed rose petals and dried herbs linger in the close. With time in the glass, the 2011 fleshes out nicely. In 2011 Dominus is 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc. (11/ 2013) 90-92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 86% cabernet sauvignon, 9% petit verdot and 5% cabernet franc): Good dark red. Perfumed, cool nose melds redcurrant, tobacco leaf, licorice, coffee, leather, clove oil and chicory, plus piquant notes of pepper (green, black and white!). Riper, suppler and deeper than the Napanook blend, but still with a pronounced herbal quality to the currant, tobacco leaf and clove oil flavors. More lift here too, though the dusty tannins arrive early. Ultimately much more structured than the Napanook. Mostero noted that yields were about average in 2011, as there was no serious loss of fruit during flowering. (5/ 2013) Learn More

The must is then cold soaked for up to five days. After fermentation is complete, barrel aging takes place in our dedicated, gravity-flow, and dual level Reserve barrel rooms. The wine is racked barrel to barrel and aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak, followed by over a year of bottle-aging. The 2012 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon shows the intrinsic black stone fruit nuances and the elegant tannin structure that define our Oakville, Napa Valley-floor Cabernet. Learn More

  11. Beaulieu Vineyard George Latour 2013

    Beaulieu Vineyard George Latour 2013

    $194.94

    Size 750ML

The superb 2013 vintage gave the 2013 Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon its unctuous fruit character and dense structure. Hugely complex, the wine reveals a broad spectrum of briary blackberry, black cherry and currant notes, with nuances of violet and bittersweet chocolate. Muscular tannins support the plush, expansive palate, while impeccably balanced acidity adds vibrancy. Integrated caramel and toasted oak spices, from aging in new French oak barrels, heighten the aromas and linger on the finish. To enjoy this wine at its full potential, we recommend at least five years of bottle aging; however, if you can’t wait, decant before serving. Blend: 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot. 12. Las Cases 2002

    Las Cases 2002

    $195.00

    Size 750ML

"A sensational effort from proprietor Jean-Hubert Delon... The wine has tremendously high measurements of extract and phenolics. The color is nearly black/purple, and the wine looks like syrup of Leoville Las-Cases. Dense, concentrated, broodingly backward as well as tannic, but oh, so promising and intense, the 2002 reveals tremendous purity, great intensity, and a finish that lasts for 45 seconds. Clearly Leoville Las-Cases has produced a wine of first-growth quality (what’s new?) that competes for the wine of the vintage moniker. Learn More

  15. Dom Perignon 2009 Champagne

    Dom Perignon 2009 Champagne

    $199.94

    Size 750ML

Yet another masterpiece created by Richard Geoffroy. Unmistakable Dom Pérignon style with unparalleled silkiness throughout the palate. The mousse is worthy of its own chapter and the elegance is striking. Nice minerality and floral notes with citrus overtones. Slightly short now, but time will fill in the small gaps in the beginning of life. This time it tasted intensely toasty and fairly close to the 1983 when I tasted that vintage for the first time at the same age as the 2004 is now. Learn More
