    Camus Cognac Vintage 1973

    $629.00

    Size 750ML

The climactic conditions in 1973 resulted in an excellent level of yield for the harvest. Whilst the generally rather cold spring and cool temperatures after flowering had an effect on the alcohol level, the abundant and well-distributed rain (particularly at the end of the maturation period) alternating with periods of sunshine was extremely favorable to grape growth. The 1973 harvest was characterized by an excellent balance between alcohol level and acidity, with the resulting eaux-de-vie bringing fantastic qualities to cognacs. Tasting notes Nose: rich and complex, revealing dried fruit, rancio and fresh walnut aromas. Palate: round and mellow on the palate, the 1973 offers a magnificent blend of candied fruit, orange peel, pear and leather opening out into a lingering, powerful finish with hints of nutmeg. When Pierre Voisin created his cognac house together with Olivier Blanc in 1972, he named it after his grandfather, Léopold Gourmel. Both founders were fond of his authenticity, his closeness to nature when attending his vineyards, his garden and when fishing on the shore of his island, Ile de Ré, off La Rochelle in the Atlantic Ocean . Such a respect for the environment perfectly matched their vision of a natural cognac. As a further reference to Léopold , a horse saddler by profession, they chose the horse’s head as the house logo. Here again, there couldn’t be a better sign than man’s best conquest to symbolize the noble, elegant and refined cognac from Léopold Gourmel. Beyond the emotional link, the justification of this choice can be found in the powerful pronunciation of this name. Saying Léopold Gourmel immediately brings promises of new flavours and moments of complicity. These cognacs are found in every Michelin rated restaurant in France Learn More

The oldest reserves of the Tesseron family's Grande Champagne lie nestled in their 13th century 'Paradis' cellars that were once part of the local Abee. This special limited-edition Cognac derives from eight demijohns, 25 liter heavy glass flagons, marked "1898". Cognacs are traditionally transferred from barrel to demijohn after 75 years and the aging process continue, albeit at a very slow rate. The demijohns that gift the world this remarkable Cognac was not a single wine, but rather a blend of 88 Grand Champagne Cognacs that were presumably put to demijohns in 1898. The blends would have included Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Folle Blanche along with many other grape varieties that were planted and flourished pre phylloxera and the formation of the AOC. Only 286 bottles were produced of this singular treasure. Learn More

    $2,800.99

    Size 750ML

This Cognac boasts only the finest flavors. You are greeted by a noble deep amber color. On the nose there are aromas of delicate flowers, rich fruits and intense spices. On the palate, Louis XIII takes you on a world journey: to China with flavors of lychee and ginger, to Cuba with cigars and cigar box, and Central America with cinnamon. The packaging of Louis XIII shares almost as much history as the Cognac itself. The idea for the glass came from an old bottle found by Emile Rémy Martin on a Jarnac battlefield. Since then, the carafe has evolved into its distinguished shape, manufactured by Baccarat since 1936. A solid gold collar encases the neck, which is adorned by a signature fleur-de-lys crystal stopper. Its Baroque-style glass and design may have been the inspiration for the name Louis XIII, a French king who ruled during the Baroque era. It is also noted that the Rémy Martin family had close connections with King Louis XIII, which serves as another explanation for the Cognac's name. Also of note: the exquisite red box that the bottle comes in is the first new design in 25 years. Learn More
