  3. Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal

    Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal

    $109.94

    Size 750ML

Unlike tequila, mezcal has remained closer to its origins as a drink of villagers and artisan producers, persisting with tradition, as only mezcal can be made. It differentiates itself from tequila by a countrified approach taken by the distillers in the Oaxaca region (pronounced 'wa-ha-ka') who today produce around 60% of the total Mezcal output. It achieved Denominacion de Origen status in 2005. Unlike tequila, which employs only the Weber variety from fields around Jalisco, there are eleven types of agave, collectively known as ‘Maguey’ which are permitted in mezcal, such as the widely cultivated ‘Espadin’ or ‘Manso’ varieties and the more sought after wild ‘Tobala’ - the trophy of the mezcal world. Unlike tequila, mezcal is required to be at least 80% pure blue agave (tequila only 51%). Learn More

    $111.99

    Size 750ML

    Whisky Advocate: 96 points

"Wow! After the wonderful 12 year old cask strength, Redbreast does it again. This is a different beast altogether, but it is a stunner. This is Roger Waters doing The Wall: over the top, unsubtle, and totally entertaining. There’s lots going on: fermenting apples, juicy oils, spice, and dark cherry and berry fruits zip and fizz over the palate, the wood influence is sublime. I'm comfortably numb."

Hiro Sake is a world class; hand crafted Japanese Sake, created using Japanese expertise with an uncompromising approach to quality. The golden rice fields together with the water from the subterranean river beds, skirting the Miomote river in Murakami, Niigata prefecture, are the perfect setting for brewing our super-premium Japanese Sake. Our Toji or Sake Master has created an exquisite brew that bridges the heritage of the past with today’s modern drinking patterns. Although Japanese Sake is thought of as the traditional rice “wine” of Japan, the fermentation process used to produce Japanese Sake more closely resembles beer production. Japanese Sake dates back to over 2,000 years ago, even before the first Japanese written books ever recorded… Lore has it that Japanese Sake’s origin occurred when some natural airborne yeast landed in an open container of rice producing a slightly fermented liquid that gave some lucky farmers a pleasant buzz.
